Hi, I’m Sayali.
I’m a designer and artist based in Pune, currently on the lookout for my next big project to fall in love with.
I’ve been making things for as long as I can remember: paintings, sculptures, and digital products. The medium keeps changing; the goal doesn’t. I’m always chasing experiences that feel beautiful, thoughtful and a little bit new.
That curiosity has taken me to some fun places: an art gallery, an auction house, healthcare centres, and art retreats all across the country. After college, I joined a marine conservation initiative as their creative head. There, we launched the Marine Conservation & Climate Change Communications Week (MCCCW) in 2023, an annual event that brought ocean advocates from around the world together to talk about protecting our seas.
I’m an old soul at heart. Give me anything slow and repetitive with my hands and I’m happy: crochet, knitting, weaving, sewing. I can’t tell you when I knitted my first blanket, but I can tell you I had the time of my life doing it. Making things, honing that little stitch, helps me notice the small, beautiful bits of everyday life.
A few years ago, I co-hosted a homestay for travellers in Koshla village of the Himalayas. I trekked remote parts and higher altitudes. It was humbling, meditative, and a little bit magical, and that calm has stayed with me ever since. These days, my obsession is yoga. If I’m not designing, I’m probably reading about it, practising it, or attempting a pose I’m not ready for.
I also think cooking is one of the finest forms of art. I’ve recently started cooking more seriously, and yes, Ghibli movies are entirely to blame. (If you know, you know 🍳)
So, why this portfolio? I wanted one cosy corner of the internet where my art and design experiences work could be documented and live side by side. This space is where I share the work I’ve made and the ideas that excite me, and there’s plenty more on the way. Stay tuned!
